“It won’t be perfect, but it’s time to short the circuit
Don't be nervous, run towards the light
I need to live for higher purpose
Someone’s knocking on the door from the inside
Jiva Jago, I can’t go ‘round again”
"Rise" x Willow, Jahnavi Harrison
How often have you heard and felt that knock, but refused to answer?
I’m talking about that internal nudge telling you how you’ve outgrown certain people or spaces and you deserve better. How your lack of boundaries has left you mentally and emotionally depleted. How you’ve sat in comfort for so long that unfamiliarity has become a feared space instead of a bound solution. Or that you’ve given too much to everyone in your life— children, partners, family, friends, and that job— when you’ve been on 'E' for months.
Stop the cycle, because you can’t keep doing this.
Eventually, you’ll reach a breaking point and you can only hope it’s not too late. By too late, I mean destroyed relationships, burnout, being filled with rage and resentment, and in a mess that is seemingly impossible to clean up.
Why do you keep refusing to pour into yourself the same way you do for others, knowing you need to prioritize yourself?
What’s stopping you from creating the life you deserve?
You’re worthy of receiving all that you give, but you have to allow it. Every time you avoid what should be, you deny yourself the happiness you’ve been trying to obtain.
I’ve witnessed loved ones on their deathbeds expressing their regrets for not taking full advantage of life while they could. If they had more time and an able body, they would have done it all in that moment, without question. Seeing it was both heartbreaking and humbling, to say the least.
It’s easy to mistakenly assume there’s always tomorrow, later this month, or even next year. But life has a funny way of taking away what you take advantage of.
Nothing in life is on your time, and truthfully, it’s arrogant to assume otherwise.
It never hurts to make plans, but you can only live in the moment that is now. The present is all you have.
The Power of Yes & Living In The Moment
The signs have been there forever, but you have to make a conscious decision to stop ignoring them because of unfamiliarity.
Every good thing that has come to you was in the form of someone or something you’ve never experienced before, so what’s the difference now? There could be some trauma or fears creeping in that remind you of what’s happened in the past with the unknown. It could also be your energy of self-doubt and assuming the worst.
But remember, energy transfers. Leave that raggedy ass part where it belongs— in the past.
You can't let the woes of this world rob you of a fulfilling life. Enough existing, wake up and live!
Lean into the Shonda Rhimes-inspired Year of Yes energy and trust that every step you take will lead you exactly where you need to be, in divine timing.
Go for the promotion, pitch to those brands, put your creative works on display, say yes to the new experiences, ask for the help, make new friends, start the healing journey, go on the date, move to the new city, book the vacations, take the risks— do it all.
When you are called to do, be, and experience better in your life, answer. Life is far too short to settle for anything less.
